A Point-of-Sale (POS) operator, Murtala Abdullahi, has recounted how a commercial motorcyclist he allegedly sent to deliver N1.8 million was later found dead in a forest, with his head reportedly cut off.
Abdullahi shared the account during an interview with Brekete Family TV and Radio Station, explaining that he had given the money to the motorcyclist, identified as Abazara Mahrazu, to deliver to someone.
According to the POS operator, the delivery journey was from Fadan Karshi in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State to Unguwan Mailafia.
He said Abazara was carrying the N1.8 million in a bag when he left for the delivery.
How the search for the motorcyclist began
Abdullahi said he became worried after repeatedly calling Abazara and failing to reach him on his phone.
He explained that he subsequently began searching for the commercial motorcyclist and that efforts to trace his phone reportedly led to Hawan Kibo forest.
According to him, more than 300 commercial motorcyclists were mobilised to search the forest for their missing colleague.
Body reportedly discovered under leaves and sand
Abdullahi said one of the motorcyclists involved in the search eventually discovered a body concealed beneath leaves and sand.
He explained that the discovery happened when the motorcyclist stepped aside to urinate and noticed leaves covering something in the bush.
Recounting the incident, Abdullahi said:
“One of them went to urinate and he saw leaves covering something inside that bush. When he removed the leaves he saw a corpse covered with sand. He called other people to the scene and they were able to identify the corpse as Abazara. The corpse did not have a head; it had been cut off”
The POS operator said the body was identified as that of Abazara, adding that the motorcyclist’s head had been severed.
His account has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the motorcyclist’s disappearance and death, as well as the fate of the N1.8 million he was reportedly carrying.
However, the interview account does not establish who was responsible for the killing, whether the money was recovered or whether the police have made any arrests in connection with the incident.
